panthers

ok, those panthers that i just got are way small, about 2.5" snout to vent. they are in 18x18x36 screen cages, which i feel is way too big. i am trying to find a more suitable sized cage, something around 12x12x12 for the next month or so. i still have yet to see them eat much, maybe about 5 crix a day or less. i believe that they are just having trouble getting to the food. i was thinking of picking up a couple of 22 gallon reptariums, which are 15x15x25, about the smallest thing that i can find. anyone have any suggestions?

jc,

Honestly, I think the 18" cages are fine. I've never had a problem.

I think it takes longer for the food to get noticed, but they still get fed.

Can you somehow wall off part of your cage to make it smaller, this way you can make it bigger as they grow, also saves o few bucks on new cages. Good luck!

you might also want to try feeding them tiny hornworms and silkworms. baby chameleons love them and they dont get away from the chameleon as easily as crickets. I give my two month old sambava female about 4 little hornworms a day, she loves them. Im not sure as to the nutrition of hornworms but silkworms have the highest protein of feeders. If you want to balance it out more you could use baby waxworms too but those can get out of a cage. Hope this helps some

they are being cup fed currently, as loose crix just go to the top corners of the cage, and they do not eat them. i have tried silkworms and other things, but they are not very interested in them.
