ready to stock my jungle - suggestions?

guppygal Sep 30, 2003 09:56 AM

I'm nearly finished with my 150l vivarium and I want to go ahead and start ordering my frogs.

Question: Will 2 pairs of tincs get along in an enclosure of this size? I would also like to have Azureus and Leucs.

Opinion are much appreciated!

i think most people would say not to have a bunch of differnet Dendrobates together, as there is a chance they will breed and produce a hybrid frog. instead you might want to keep one kind of Dendrobates and then include some kind of Phyllobates or Epipedobates. then you wouldn't have to worry about cross breeding. you could keep a larger Dendrobates (like tincs) and then also keep some of the thumbnails Dendrobates... just another idea.

If you would like to have a large group of one particular species, you could opt for several D. galactonotus or P. bicolor. You could also go with, say, 5 or 6 of each of those species. I don't see a problem considering they will be in a 150 gallon vivarium. That's roughly 15 gallons per frog.

150 liters is closer to a 40 gallon aquarium.
