Tail chasing Tempest

bexley Sep 30, 2003 10:23 AM

Does anyone else have an ig that chases his tail? In the last couple of months, Tempest has become fascinated with chasing his tail. Once he manages to get it, he just gives it a flick with his tongue, stops for a while, then restarts. I've checked it for retained shed, he seems totally fine. Any ideas?

Goliath use to chase his tail. And someone else's iguana did to, i dont remember who, but i dont think either of us found out why. I dont know if it was because of breeding season and he thought it may have been another iguana, or if it itched, boredom??? He did it for a few months, then stopped.

If I had to guess, I'd say its something to do with breeding season, he's only started it in the last few weeks. He's starting to get cranky and turn orange in his legs and dewlap, and the more orange he is, the harder he goes after his tail. Glad to know he's not the only one though!
