Freshly shed sunglow blood

mike_panic Jul 06, 2011 02:57 PM

This guy shed out again and his eye is almost fully healed. I am hoping it will be functional. Anyway, his color is already changing and he has gained some white pigment. Thanks for looking. Mike Panichi

I believe Mike used Terramycin Ophthalmic Ointment. I suggested he try that medication.

Since this time I've discovered another medication that might even be more effective.
This medication is eye drops called Neomycin

prescription eye drops (neomycin)

I believe the eye drops might be more cutting edge but have not
discussed this with my Vet yet.

Yes I have been using that ointment as well, applying to the eye with clean fingertip twice daily. Been keeping the eyes in check, but now seems to be going downhill...

Like Lar said, following his advice I used terramycine. I have to tell you though, at first I thought the eye would make it but It seemed to take a turn for the worse and formed what looked like an ugly scab and scarring. When the snake shed for the second time, I thought that would be the end of the eye. After his shed, I was very surprised to find an almost normal eye. I guess the scabbing had been helping it heal. I'm not sure if the eye will be functional though. Anyway, good luck. Mike Panichi

After seeing those pictures, I wonder how many people will run out and buy an orangetail sunglow and blood boa? You hit the zenith.
