Day 63

bellapython Jul 07, 2011 11:00 AM

1st 2011 clutch. 3 eggs, the clown pipped on Tues. & came out today. My problem is the other 2 eggs. Should they move when I touch them. The one which I think is a pastel clown is big. Takes up the whole egg. Should I take him out?
This never happened to me before. Please any suggestions would help. Thanks, Beth

I gently poke them with a probe and they move. You should be able to tell if they are alive. All babies don't come out at the same time. You can also cut a little more of the egg away.I would'nt take them out of the egg at this time .

Thank you Terry. I'll wait a bit longer. The one is so big, I'm afraid the cord wrapped around him. I'm walking on eggshells here, so to speak, anxious! The clown that came out is 63 Gr. The one i'm concerned about looks bigger. Very tight in the egg.

I would make a bigger cut in the eggs just so you can see in the egg better to make sure the umbilical is not wrapped around them. I would be getting a little concerned at this point if the other hatchlings are not at least poking there heads out

That's what I thought John. They should at least move when I touch them. I cut the whiter baby more but I don't want the fluid to leak out. He's fully formed. On Tues. when the clown pipped I cut a tiny slit in the other two.Maybe that was a mistake.
Thanks for your reply.... beth

Fluid leaking out won't hurt anything, you can cut more around the egg so you can see in better. If you want send me a phone number and I will call you this evening.
