I just hatched out a clutch of 7 Sonoran Gopher Snake eggs. The first 6 eggs hatched fine. When the 7th egg still had not piped two days after the 6th egg had, I cut it open. The next day a hatchling emerged with a deformed head/snout. I have attached a pic. It is able to stick its tongue out about half way and I am not sure if it is able to open its mouth or if it will ever be able to eat. It just exited its egg yesterday. Would you suggest I euthanize the animal or wait to see if it can eat? If it is able to eat would it only be a pet or do you think it could be bred? If it should be euthanized is freezing the best method? Thanks for the advice.
OK, I am new here and was going to attach a pic but it does not seem to work that way. I will be happy to email a pic to anyone interested. My email is tkelly2912@aol.com
