Prasinus hatching

robyn@ProExotics Jul 08, 2011 07:11 PM

It has been a good few days, hatching and egg wise. Lots of cool Balls hatching, Rhino rat eggs today, Gila eggs today, but this was a surprise, about a month early (from our guesstimates). Super stoked about this. Prasinus/Green Tree monitors hatching- 4 eggs in the clutch. Another clutch of 5 eggs on the opposite end of the box, still 3 months out.

Congrats guys! I knew from seeing them a few weeks back that you would end up getting some results before too long, as always excellent animals looking forward to seeing the prices !

A couple of pics Chad took today of the first one out of the egg. All four are now setup in a group hatchling cage, exploring and bopping around. Very cool to see.

All four hatched and out within 24 hours. 87F in a vermiculite box, sitting on a shelf in our roach breeding room. 157 days to hatch.

Better view in the egg. The one on the right ran out of the egg as I raised the camera into position, fight or flight I suppose.

Springtails.

Really cool to see!

What about this bluish color? Is it normal for prasinus to hatch like that? Do they green up later?

I heard they can become bluish if there is no UVB.

robyn@ProExotics Jul 12, 2011 12:37 PM

Thanks for the support guys.

They were more blue-ish when they hatched, but they are getting greener. Adults are all green.
