Possible Silver Streak Sulfer

taylormademorphs Jul 10, 2011 12:03 AM

We bred a Black Pastel Pewter to a Pastel Sulfer to produce this girl. I sent this picture to a couple of other breeders that have more experience than I when it comes to working with the Black Pastel and Sulfer genes. They thought it could possibly be a Silver Streak Sulfer but want to see more pictures after she sheds. We can't find a picture of a Silver Streak Sulfer online to compare this girls to so I am not sure if one has been produced yet. Would love to hear from others on what we may possibly have here.

Thanks,
Darin Taylor

I wish I could help you out, but I have never hatched out any Sulfur Cinnamon crosses. It looks really nice! Anything else cool in the clutch?

Dave,

There is a Sulfur and a Black Pastel Sulfur in the clutch as well. The one I think is a Black Pastel Sulur is on the right. Hope to be able to identify them better after they shed.

The Sulfur is nice, bit of a reduced pattern. Does the Sulfur Black Pastel have a lighter head than the one you think is just a normal Black Pastel? I like the entire clutch, congrats man!

Dave,

Tnanks for the comment, glad you like them all. The head is lighter on the one I believe is a Black Pastel Sulfur. If you know anyone that has hatched very many Silver Streaks, please have them look at this post. We have a gravid girl that should have regular Silver Streaks pretty soon. Up until this point though, this is the only one I have ever produced so I have nothing to compare her too.

Thanks,
Darin Taylor

I do not have Sulfurs but I do have Fires, which I believe are the same. I also don’t have Black Pastels but I do have Cinnamons. I am pretty sure your Black Pastel has the Sulfur gene in it but I am not sure about the Silver Streak. Here is a picture of a newborn Cinnamon Fire.

Here is a picture of a newborn regular Sterling (The Cinnamon version of a Silver Streak) for you to do a comparison of.

Nice clutch either way though and like you said you may have to see how they color up to know for sure.

Albey,

Thanks so much for the comparison pictures. This is our first year working with the Sulfur or Black Pastel gene. We have been hatching Graziani line Cinnamons and Supers for quite a few years but hadn't ever hatched a Sterling either. Although my photography skills aren't that great, I will take some pictures and post on here towards the end of the week when they shed. Thanks again.
