I did this one for the Roswell Project!

perfectpredators Jul 10, 2011 02:01 PM

Ok without this being taken the wrong way, I've noticed how the Roswells have been "losing" that BCC look as theyve been outcrossed more and more with BCI since their first generation. In 2007 I located an amazing female intergrade of Hypo BCI and Suriname Bcc, and here's her picture:

So this year I bred her to a Sunglow and they produced a wonderful litter of what are screamer Hypos, Super Hypos, Hypos that look like the mom, Hypos that look like a Bci, Straight up Bcc lookers, you name it. Here are some pictures of the litter born 7-01-2011:

When I put parents together in the fall of last year, I thought babies from these will do wonders to a Roswell project as its a perfect way to get Bcc traits, Hypo, and Albino into back into a future Roswell project pairing.

Roswell is one of the rarer projects as it stemmed from a Bcc pairing, and we boa breeders on this forum for the most part are not as familiar with the needs and breeding requirements of Bcc as we are Bci, thus it seems Bci has been more and more used with the Roswells and it shows. Here are the first 3 to shed as of this morning:

I really hope these babies will do something about bringing some more of that red tail back into the Roswell like the originals looked a few years back. I hope I'm right, we will just have to try it and see.....

Thanks for looking!

There you go Mr. Manny! That's selective breeding at it's best. That is exactly how you do it! Nice work and that original female Hypo is to die for!

Great vision Manny! What a wonderful example of breeding with a purpose. That litter should really help the Roswell project, fantastic job!

Great job Manny! One of the reasons I got into the Roswell project early on was because my coral albino stock also originated from Bcc/Bci crosses, and so I have already established a collection of which more than half are Bcc x Bci ranging from 1/4 to 5/8 Bcc from many different bloodlines. I have said from the start that, in my opinion, outcrossing and maintaining a higher Bcc percentage will be key to the quality of the Roswells/RLTs produced. This approach requires patience and discipline, but I think it will result in far superior animals.

Congrats on ANOTHER great litter - oh, and that hypo girl is STELLAR!

It's much appreciated and a terrific feeling when my pairing ideas are liked by others as well...
