KS request for a new forum

Bluerosy Jul 10, 2011 02:06 PM

I think that maybe there should be a forum on bonding reptiles. That way people that want to learn and discuss can go there. i know this would be very unordinary for KS to do this. just saying. The bonding issue is not going away. maybe a forum to discuss "bonding aptly called the BONDING forum.

There is so much to learn from this topis and not only with kingsnakes. i think it deserves a forum all its own and that way newbies won't come here and get bombabrded with bits and peices of information on what was already said and every know nothing can post how one time there two snakes ate each other .

So you want to make a dating forum for snakes? You could be in charge of it too. Then you would have a place to teach without all of us "idiots" arguing with you all the time. Rainre, I think we agree on something. You could help people bond their snakes on multiple levels of compatibility. I think you have something here!

Do you honestly think a separate forum would be any different?

I'm sitting here blaming myself for all the recent bs that has taken place... and all because I honestly (or stupidly, take your pick) believed that a polite and rational discussion could be had on what has been a controversial subject if the experiments and observations of an "outsider" were added to the mix... but no... in short order it all degenerated into the same old crap... if a rational discussion can't be had here do you really think it can be had on another sub-forum? Damn, I pointedly asked for polite and rational discussion on the matter in my OP!

Just so you'll know this reply is not really directed at you, FR or anyone else on the pro "bonding" side of this issue... both camps are equally to blame for the degeneration of what could be an interesting topic into a pointless brouhaha.

Gerry,
When i first posted this a few months ago it was worse. i should look up the posts and paste them here. The first replies to my keeping the snakes was as expected. But after about 2 months, I dropped an informational bomb and said they SHARE their food. That is when the real nasty replies started. Basically everyone called me a liar. So now at least it has progressed and got a bit better where they are not calling me a liar, but saying that maybe it works for me and my snakes...LOL! hey that is progression, right? LOL!

Honestly, if you look at the early posts and try understand all i did was report that I have been bonding Florida kings for years and they share their food and don't eat each other. i never said my way was the only way. i was just talking about bonding where it was turned into something else. Turned ino attack on my character, my business etc.

Thats how far people will go in this place.

I have been posting here probably as long as or longer than anyone here. I was doing this for years and never brought up what i do for this reason. i knew the few people on this forum who I have had a history of would respond like this. But i went ahead and posted the bonding and communal housing anyway.

my thinking is, why not share this info? And why should I care if it offends. It is the truth. IT is science or ecolgy or whatever you want to call it.. In the long run it will be good for herpetoculture. I just know it takes a few years and then it will be common knowlegde and everyone will accept it just as the sun rises.

I have been around a long time. i have seen this type of reaction before. And i will bve around later when those that reacted poorly will wish they were invisible and want to dissapear. and they will. At least most of them.

Rianre, that's how far people will go? Awhile back a guy ask a question on here about breeding a king with a corn. The first post to that guy were very nice and directed him to the hybrid forum. He agains asked his question there and you said go ask in the king forum. your eyes dude. All you do is stir up [bleep] to get attention. Ok you keep snakes together and feed them without looking and you never have problems. Good we got it the first time. Write a book and the people who care can buy it. Stop starting fights and go clean your snakes. Every time there's a problem you and your buddy(not you Frank) are the root. How many beers do I have to buy to make it stop?

The real problem is that two people are trying to push this on the rest of the board as THE cutting edge way to do this. It's been proven by many, many experienced Herpers here that the results are often disasterous, yet even after it spiraled out of control, they resurrect the subject imidiately, becuae they have to prove they are some kind of trend stteres. It's about them not the snakes!

Remember when i first posted that i bred 20" female florida kings? You got your panties in a wad back then to. You just have a hard time with thinking outside the box. that is why we have a personality clash. i bet it would be that way between us on any given subject.

Anyway, guess what.. My females that bred at 20" are fine and heathy and producing like champs.

Let's start a forum everytime two guys come up with a different variation to keep or feed your snakes! How about one on, Tubs vs Aquariums! Or mice vs rats, or chicks. Please, there is no grab for attention here, lol!

I think first you all need to learn to bond and get along before we start working on the reptiles

Give me a month with no forum posts pulled here and no abuse complaints and then we can think about adding another battle ground for you all.

It won't be a battle ground because there will just be three people posting on there. LOL

Everyone else will be HERE, the kingsnake forum.

I would be happy to have that forum, that would clean this one up a bunch!

In reality, a behavior study type of forum would be interesting, not sure how well it would go over. One for snake and one for lizards might work. Quite honestly as I have been working with some friends on their cyclura behavior issues, this is quite topical. LOL Would save me repeating.

However you boys are die hards. I suspect even if I make those forums, you all will still start bickering here and then pick sides and then call each other names. Then I go and get cranky trying to keep as much of the valid info here as I can while pulling the bad stuff and walking that delicate line between debate and childish bickering. Snakes will conform to what we make them conform to. People won't.

People..(yes, it is about people) will no more take to another forum than they do to the subs or the way they want to keep their snakes now....
That seems to be the root of some of the problems we see here, right? To think they'll take their bickering to a spot where no one else will see them is....well....
It seems IS about people and egos...period.
The time for passing on knowledge and ideas went out the window with all the personal remarks and condescending overtones.
I can't imagine a new reader havng any fun here at all anymore...
