i have ordered and am soon to get in a trio of physignathus cocincinus, 1.2, i have a oceanic 125 which i made a fake rock background and set up sweet, ive had many lizards and am fairly knowledgable, however my question is, i am a tattoo artist and i work from noon to 11 pm everyday but sunday, i also tend to sleep till noon,so if i set the light timer from 2pm to 2am, would the natural lighting of the room( even with blinds closed)disrupt their sleep? i want to spend time with them, but not be selfish. also how long should the day lights be on after eating, for proper digestion?thanx in advance for help here as i want to do it rihgt, ok thats long enuff, keelsey

a 120 is only about 2x2x4, which is not big enough for even one water dragon. It would be in the dragons best interest to give them a proper sized home before you consider tinkering with their day/night cycle. Further, I realize that a 120 WOULD be an adequate size for babies and even juvies, but since you already know the sex they must be old enough to sex, and wd's usually can't be reliably sexed until subadult.

As far as the day/night cycle goes, I don't think that would be a problem. I used to breed leopard geckos and had the lights on at night and off during the day so I could observe them since they are nocturnal.

Hope that helps,
Paul

yeah, i think that tank size is wrong, it was given to me and is
60.5" long, 4ft or so high and 20.5"deep, but i am considering annexing the top to be a good bit taller(later), thanks, for the help!, keelsey

Its hard to answer this one without more info so Ill give you my info and see how it relates. My lights go on from 9am to 9pm. I usually see them stirring before the lights kick on and many times see them crash before they go off. I usually feed a couple hrs after lights on like 11 or 12 so they have time to warm up. Then they have all day to digest and bask etc. Are yours on a similar schedule? Or, do they get up early and sit in the dark for a few hours then sleep with the light on for a few hours. So for example if their wake hrs are from 9-9 but your lights dont kick on til 2 and you feed say 5ish Im wondering if the shortened digestion time will affect them. If they wake around 2pm and sleep around 2 am there shouldnt be a problem. I just think they should dictate what your lighting schedule should be.
