Skin Problems - Ball Python

bengriffon Sep 30, 2003 02:49 PM

Noticed a dry patch of skin on top of Ball python's head about a month ago. It has since turned into what looks like a large gash from just behind the nose to between the eyes. It is red, dry and scabby, and all of the surrounding scales seem puckered toward it. The scales surrounding the gash also seem to be slowly flaking off. I do not think the snake had any opportunity to injure herself and I do not feed it live prey.
If anyone can identify what this might be and how it can be treated/prevented I would appreciate it.

Ben

What kind of enclosure is it in?

The description sounds like a thermal burn.
