Clarification - Hybrids and what to do!

PHFaust Jul 17, 2011 07:55 PM

Ok let's try this. See I try to joke, i try to tease, I try to embarrass.

Here is the defination of what will be moved as a hybrid discussion.

if it is a kingsnake, I dont care where it came from be it florida, california, grease fields, timbuktu, mars. If it is a kingsnake to a kingsnake, i dont care if it is speckled, striped, rainbow. If it is a kingsnake breeding to a kingsnake, it stays. That may not be popular with the locale purists, but really that is what it is. The top of this forum is kingsnakes.

If it is a kingsnake to a garter, corn, ATB, GTP, king cobra, pit viper or a stuffed snake I dont care what species we are talking as long as it is not a kingsnake, it is moving to hybrid.

NOW! What to do if you see a hybrid discussion on the forum! This is REALLY REALLY SIMPLE!

Do you :
A: Posture, post and bicker?
B: Call each other names?
C: Hit the nifty lil link at the top of each message that says Report abuse and HAVE PATIENCE!

Thats right! Hit the report abuse, step away from the computer and relax. Go clean snake cages, because I know for a fact that even if you had clean cages this morning, there is 1 dirty one unless you have one snake. Go outside! I bet you can herp. But relax and step away. I will address it when I get the reports and god forbid I go out somewhere, i will address it when i get home.

Now on that note, have a nice day kids. If you have any questions, you may email me at phfaust@pethobbyist.com

Whats the difference between a hybrid, a cross, etc.

Is breeding a cal king to a fla king a hybrid? and is it included on this forum?

Thanks

Cindy, I am not trying to be arguementative but...

Is not an L. alterna x L. pyromelana (or getula, ruthveni, mexicana, etc.) a hybrid just like L. getula x L. triangulum?

Kings and milks are all the same genus, but we call it a hybrid if we cross two species of that genus (whether they are kings or milks.)

Just the way I see it...

Thanks!

>>Cindy, I am not trying to be arguementative but...

Actually you are.

>>Is not an L. alterna x L. pyromelana (or getula, ruthveni, mexicana, etc.) a hybrid just like L. getula x L. triangulum?>>

Look at the top of the forum. This is the "Kingsnake Forum" That means if it is a kingsnake be it L. getula or L.drivecindyinsana it is a kingsnake. Plain and simple. KINGSNAKE is the important word here.

>>Kings and milks are all the same genus, but we call it a hybrid if we cross two species of that genus (whether they are kings or milks.)

To mayhaps give you a bit of clarification using the group I am more familiar with

On the morelia forum a Capondro will stay. That is a carpet x chondro. Know why? They are both morelia

Now a Carpball (Carpet x Ball) will be moved. Know why? They both aren't morelia. See Easy Peasy.

i get it.

anything that falls under the genus Lampropeltis is fair game on this forum.

some won't like this, but i see your logic.

I'm beginning to see this subspecies out and about here more often. It is clearly nocturnal and diurnal. It can pop up anywhere anytime.

It is clearly a colony animal and bonded pairs are common. They feed primarily on small common redundant comments, Known for their aggressive displays and tenacious grip.

Some release a foul discharge when annoyed.

Status is undetermined though some studies suggest they be listed as threatened.

Ha!

Forgot to mention....

" L. drivecindyinsana is a tumultuous subspecies often observed in ritual combat defending territory and sometimes feeds by use of caudal luring delivering a fierce bite when a reaction occurs.....". Lol.

To me they are both kings so they stay here. A king is a king is a king to me. This is after all the general Kingsnake forum. Wouldnt you agree?
