The big one by Brian Hubbs? That's the best book ever when it comes to common kingsnakes. Two of my wild caught Cal king morphs are featured in that book. If he would have used more of my photo's it would have been nicer. lol
It is the best natural history book written on any group of North American colubrids. Brian Hubbs writes with an entertaining, literate style and is obviously passionate about the getula group of kingsnakes. Many great photos, some taken by people who post on this forum. Wish it was available in hardback.
Yes, many kingsnake people have that great book, and it is the THE best one on the subject of kingsnakes ever published to date without question. I also have some Outer Banks kingsnakes featured in there.
What store did you happen to see it in?

Hubbs was telling me a neat story one day how he went looking for Cal kings in the LA area and to park his car near this one guys property. He went out looking for kings and the guy comes out and asks him what he's doing parking on his property. Hubbs explains how he comes down to CA every spring to look for Cal kings. Hubbs then tells the guy how he wrote a book on them and takes him to the car to look at one of the books. The guy is not into snakes but seemed interested in Hubbs little hobby. While they are looking through the book the guy asks how much he is selling them for. Hubbs says 60 bucks. The guy then goes and gets the money and buys the book. I know I'm missing a little something out of that story but that's basically how it went.
...haha... probably left out Hubb's having him at gunpoint...

Great book!

Yeah, I am familiar with Amir's store there in Miami. I figured it had to be a reptile specialty store to have that book.

Maybe this is a good time to point out that despite the acrimony and disputes so common on this forum, there's been generally universal acclaim here for Hubbs' book. That's high praise.
Agreed! And poor Hubbs is banned from this forum.
