another new girl with a question

doret Sep 30, 2003 03:41 PM

Hi, I,m Doret from Holland (Amsterdam) and I have 3 WD, 2 male and 1 female, named A-gaam, B-gaam and C-gaam.
I got them 11 months ago from a pet store and started with a lot of problems. One of the males has had infections all around his head and the female had swollen limbs each time. After a lot of visitings to the vet (antibioticum), a powersun 100 watt and a good diët they're doing very well now
So last year the male without any problems, A-gaam, was 23cm total length, STV, what makes him about 6 months old: www.icomm.ca/dragon/age. The male with the infections, C-gaam,reached that size one month later, same as the female, B-gaam.
Now, 11 months later, they all are about 60 cm STL. That would mean that they are about two years old now. Especially in the first 6 months they grow like hell and somebody told me that that is nót very good for them. It could couse MBD but I think they're just cured from it. They are as healthy as they could be
What do you think about this?

(I pushed the "send message" button before reading the message first...)
My question is :is growing too fast bad for their health?
On the picture you can see A-gaam, 3 weeks ago.

Thanx, Doret.

looks good, there maybe some lingering effects from MDB, but if you keep up with supplimenting they should be fine. There is a point in the desease when the organs start to shut down, if you catch it before that your okay. Fast growth is only bad when the proper diet and suppliments are not being fed, and when the proper diet and suppliments are being fed, you can expect fast growth. in other words, worry about their diet and that they have a balanced calcium/Posphorus and D3, and the rest will be fine.

Thank you for the answers.
I think the MBD-worries are gone, they jump out of their terrarium from 80 cm (32" and don't have any problems with that anymore.
Every time I feed them, they'll get calcium and ones a week a multivitamin. They start eating veggies also so I can give them even more varity in their food.
Tnaks again.
