Cage question.

Steveoinlvnv Jul 18, 2011 05:54 PM

I was wondering if the vision cage 111 would be ok for full growen kings and milk snakes? The meserments are 24x12x16. I have a friend who is going to give me 5 of them brand new since he has extra. All I can say it's a good deal for sure. Thanks in advance for the help.

That should be plenty big enough to keep them! Of course larger is always better, but that seems to be about the same floor space as a 20 gal long aquarium, which is commonly used foor Kings and Milks. Great deal!

which kings or milks? I would so not put a full grown florida king in that. But maybe some of the smaller individuals of the cal king or speckled king? Or lots of the north american milk subspecies?

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

Right know I have a Cal. King, a Thayeri King, and a Solinaloan Milk snake. I do plan to get a few corn snakes and who know what else as time goes on.

I re-checked the length of a 20 gal long and it's 30 inces long, so Varanid may be right. It sounds like it might be a little tight for a larger King like a Florida or an Eastern. Thayeri should be ok, and some Sinaloans can get pretty, so it will be close.

Too small for kings. Might be ok for adult milks of small species.

A trend in herp management these days is two-compartment cages. Depending on which way the dimensions on the cages run, might you put them side by side with a pvc pipe connecting the two? (and caps so you can close off the pass-through when desired. Your friend might be helping you find an economical way to try that housing method.

Thanks for the info and help. I'm going to use the cages for now since my snakes arevstill small and these cages are bigger then what I'm using now. Then I think I'm going to build my owns cage set up or rack system. What size tubs would be best for full grown kings. Like a Flores king. Incase I do get one one day. Thanks again.

I posted these a few days ago. Here's the link. I also like the Sterilite Ultra under the bed, 40QT. with locking tabs. It's item number - 1986 clear.

That's really cool I like that thanks. Next question is how do you get heat to one side of the cage? Do you use belly or side heat?

Well I don't really use heat. I heat the entire room. You could put a strip of peg board or thin plywood on one side, left or right and put some heat tape there.
