My bfs gecko was impacted. She is now 8 grams, has deficated and is holding weight. She is about 3-4 months old. My bf is force feeding her pedialite and vitamins and antibiotics. She wont eat on her own. It is becoming such a problem that my bf is thinking of putting her down. We both really love the little girl and don't want that to happen. Does anyone know of any way we can get her to eat meal worms and crickets again? I have put a mealworm in her mouth but she just spit it out. Any help would be greatly apprectiated.

sorry to hear you have a sick gecko, always sad, my girlfriend just lost a gecko last sunday because of inpaction,
now we have to help your geckos make it!
I have a good idea how to get mealworms in to your gecko.. but it is quite disgusting, but what do you not do for beloved gecko? so what you have to do is to take a mealworm, cut of its head and squeeze out the intestines and stuff out of the skin of the worm and in to a syringe, now you just fill up you syringe with mealworm and then you feed your gecko with this,
when you feed your gecko you just squeeze out some on your gecko's lips/mouth and wait untill our gecko licks it up.
This takes some time but it often work!
One other thing that i have heard about but not self tried on my geckos is to give some sort of babyfood to your gecko also through a syringe. the baby food should be vegitarian.. i think, hope someone else know more about this baby food thing... because i don't know so much about it, you may try to search the forum, I know there are alot of posts about it.

hope this could help!
keep us posted how your gecko is doing!

is the gecko still impacted? if so, use a syringe with some mineral oil and force that to it. it will lubricate her insides and she will probably crap out whatever she is impacted with. also, chicken baby food is something that you can feed her with a syringe. i had a gecko a few months back that was impacted. a little mineral oil and some baby food and she was fine. it took her about 8-10 days of force feeding before whe would eat on her own. good luck

if she hasn't cleared the impaction definetly go to the vet. they can give her an iv and an enimal to clear it out. If the impaction stays she may have tissue die in her intestins and she could die. This is what happened to me and my gecko. She died monday, sadly i caught the impaction to late. Take her off whatever substrate she is on. If you really want her to eat crush up some meal worms and/or crickets with some water and put a drop at a time on her nose hopefully she may lick it off. For the time being give her 15 minute warm baths in about 3/4 inch of water. enough to reach her under belly. Rub her belly as well. act quick and get her to a vet.

got to give them a bit of time. Impaction takes alot out of a leo. Try mashing up wax worms, superworm or cricket guts and feeding thyem. When on antibiotics sometimes it kills there apetite also. Don't put it down I am sure somebody on here would care for the little guy.
