I took in a rescue 3 year old female Hog Island boa in mid April of this year and fell in love with it. And fell in love with her so much we bought a 2010 male Sears line Hog and they are housed together. They always stay together, they are both super tame, and great feeders, but lately she is grumpy and will open her mouth and hiss loud without striking, and doesn't hang as much with the male anymore, and soaks a lot. I saw a post where gravid females will become grumpy and hang with the males less. I thought maybe the soaking and grumpyness was an upcoming shed but she never got like that before. I am wondering if it is possible for a male that young to impregnate a female? Would a 3 year old female around 3.5 feet be old enough to breed? Would they even breed in the summer. And is the aggression really a sign of a Hog Island being gravid? She seems to take only one small rat per feeding than her usual two also if that helps to judge. Thanks. I did lots of searches but only found one site where they mentioned a gravid hog becoming grumpy and darker in color.
