new pit viv design (pics)

alstotton Jul 20, 2011 04:30 PM

For many many years I used this design of viv, but made from the standard white or wood effect chipboard. They served my really well although time and especially moisture takes it toll on them.

Using my old design as a cue I've made a start on a prototype using all plastics for the construction.
The slide out (black) tray/underfloor works just perfect for filling with loose substrate like aspen/shavings and double upo as a 'hide'.

Thanks for Lookin'

That is pretty nice. Mama snakes would really like that for egg laying, what with the bottom tub full of moist sphagnum moss.
What is the front going to be; screen or glass?
Is the bottom tub one of those cement mixing tubs? What sort of substrate is going to be in the top part?

Cheers Bob,

The front will be the standard two sliding glass doors,as for the tub its a U.K made garden tray 60 x 48 x 12 cm.
The top part will have a piece of cardboard with the hole cut out, cheap and cheerful.

I bet you are in the U.K! In the U.S.A we were taught the dumb old archaic feet and inches thing.

What type of pituophis are you going to put in this cage?
