Post-shed pics from F1 Brooksi clutch

foxturtle Jul 21, 2011 08:36 PM

They only hatched about 10 days ago but all 7 have already eaten (and passed) their first meals.

You can view my original post about this clutch for more info:

Not every snake was cooperative, but here are individual pics of everything from this clutch.

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

I usually wait a couple weeks after they shed before I offer food, but I wanted to start these guys ASAP. FL kings are a lot of fun to raise. I've gotten a few up to 40" in less than 12 months' time.

Thanks John. In some ways it seems silly to start back at square one with brooksi when they've been bred for decades, but it's fun nonetheless.

It's not silly at all......Why not start a new, fresh line?

I wish we could with Thayeri, Ruthveni, Greeri and Mex Mex, but we don't have the luxury of just going out and catching a couple anymore.....we are stuck with what we got.......

You know with all that Mexican and Central American stuff there have to all sorts of cool phenotypes in the wild that we may never see in captivity.

4 and 7 are the obvious picks, or course! I like that number 6 is more whitish and doesn't have all the yellow/orange/red the others are showing, but still has a fair amount of speckling. Could turn out to be more of a white-phase brooks.

Outstanding clutch! I like them all but the last is a screamer for sure.

Nice website as well... Love the banner!
