And he/she is a beauty. Maybe the best ever I've ever produced....really light orange, little to no black and triad count in the high 40s. It's fun to see how far this project has come. 16 more to hatch.

He's about a third of the way out and I am almost speechless...

Here is the dad

mother from a few years ago laying eggs

The babies look like they will be even less black than either parent. Awesome!
Please excuse my ignorance, but what exactly are these; zonatas of some sort?

They are Baja Mountain Kingsnakes(L.zonata agalma)....Sierra Juarez locale. I have been selectively breeding them for the last twenty years to get these traits of light orange, reduced black and high triad count. Mission Accomplished on the first two and I'm working to up the triad count. It's a fun project.
Juarez Wonders
That would work out to about 5 or 6 generations over a 20 year span, I am thinking. Definitely a worthy project!

I absolutely love this shot I just took. These are the 2nd and 3rd to pip.
That is beautiful. Will be awaiting the post shed pics! It is just amazing how the babies seem to have so much less black than either parent. I didn't think a baby could be either lighter or darker than its parents, but then I have only a thin grasp of snake genetics.
