Walmart worms safe?

coralluskeeper Sep 30, 2003 05:22 PM

Hey all,
Are the worms you buy from walmart for fishing safe to feed to garters? My first snake was a garter snake about 4 years ago and I fed him worms I bought from walmart and he died a few months latter. Now I was 11 and like I said, first snake, and he was wild cought, and it was in the winter. SO many other factors could have caused the death. But I have 2 baby garters I rescuced at birth (long story).
Any how,
Thanks for your time.
Philip

I have been feeding the Wal-Mart fishing worms to my tiger salamanders for a while now, and they are doing fine. I don't know why it would hurt a garter if it is OK for sallies. I think Wal-Mart has changed its supplier of worms in the last few years, they always appear healthy and clean to me, but that is just my perspective.
