Cage Material

Leofreak Sep 30, 2003 05:28 PM

I was going to build a 48" by 24" cage out of Polycarbonate. For those who are unfamiliar its a thermoset plastic that glues together. I was wondering would this be safe for my beardie. I havn't gotten it yet so if it is safe should i build the cage a head of time like a couple days so fumes get out or something.

hrmm.. im not really sure.. although i know melamine is a great thing to build cages out of, it wipes down easily and i think it looks great... im going to be making some stacking 4x2x2 melamine cages very soon......

it is just a type of plastic.. lexan is a polycarbonate and i use that as my cage doors for all sorts of herps.. i would however air it out for a more than a few days..i let my big big cages air out for a few weeks to a month (but i am a worry wart)..it really depends on what kind of glue you are gonna use..but the polycarbonate is fine..
