Steveoinlvnv Jul 23, 2011 04:18 AM

I got my plans drawen out for a rack/cage unit and I was wondering if 24x22x15 would be good for a full growen king on the larger end like a Fl. King? Thanks for the help in advance. Ill post a picture of what I plan to make as soon I have all finalzed.

I give my snakes cages as long as the snake totally stretched out. So a Florida king would need a long cage for comfort, even though it could exist in a shorter cage.

I would trust that size for any sized mountain king or milksnake as well as grey bands and variable kings but I would not put a florida king or any larger common kings.
I have owned a lot of them and while I thing they CAN live comfortably in something that small... You will constantly be picking up tipped water bowls and they will tear the cage up flipping hideouts and what not. Not enough space to wander.

This rack cage system is 26"w X 17"d X 14"t with access to a 28 qt container below the cages. I built this one because I saw Applegates ideas and It has worked out for many species and if you look up in the top cage you can see one of my adult female CA kings.

That's a cool set up I like that. I might have to change up my drawing a lot lol. Thank you guys for the info and sorry to keep asking about this. I just want to try and make things right or as close to the first time to save money.

no reason to be sorry lol

This is where I got half of my ideas is asking. If you go to home depot they make all kinds of pvc and abs pipe fittings that work well for the tunnel to the bottom tub if you do it that way. The white that is lining the cage is called thrifty white panel board at home depot a 4 x 8 foot sheet is 11 dollars and it is an acrylic and water proof. They can cut it for you. The glass tracks are called Track and guides and are by knape and vogt on amazon.

I think that is all the obstacles I had to overcome. Make another post if you have questions and take pictures!
