This is my first year breeding balls and I had this hatch out. I had another snake hatch out of a different clutch that belly was open but her yoke sack broke off and I just put neosporine on her and she healed up just find. This one concerns me because I am not sure what is yoke sack and what is internals... What should I do? I am keeping in on wet paper towel right now and really trying to keep this opening for drying to the paper because I am afraid of something sticking and tearing. This snake has been out of the egg about one day.

Also I have seen ralph davis' video guts and I was wonderind should I just try to push this all in and stitch it shut? The belly is rather hard on this baby and that is part of the reason I have not tried that method yet.

Just want some advice and I know there are many of you out there that may have more input on this then I would.

Thanks,

Matt

Just keep it in a really moist environment for the next couple days. By tomorrow all that will be sucked into the belly and it'll be fine. Chris Hall

What causes this or is this something that just happens every now and then with balls?

Did you cut the eggs or did he pip on his own? If you cut they always have the remnants of the yolk (veins, membranes, gunk) on the umbilicus that they just suck up where the yolk is attached. Usually if they pip they've already absorbed most of it and usually stay in the egg until it's all absorbed. If you cut they may be more inclined to leave the egg before the final absorbtion out of fear. Chris

from the pic it looks like ripped and torn cordage..not "guts"....

they should fall off...never saw them quite like that before...

use a deli-cup wetted ,but not water in it...and the baby can slide all over the place...put deli-cup back into incubator and wait...

......a few will have intestine pieces sticking out of the hole..and will have to have it go back in...it can be hard to tell at times what is suposed to be in and what is to fall off...

never push in --or rip off if not sure....

.....

yolk..........
