Opal Experts I need Help please...

jsschrei Jul 24, 2011 06:12 PM

A couple of unexpected hatchlings came out of their eggs this morning. They were unexpected because the known genetics of the parents didn't prepare me for it. The parents are Amel Motley het Lavender x Hypo Lavender het Amel and Anery. I suspected the dad was het motley due to his pattern (he HAS belly checks). Here are the parents:

Here's what came out (along with some pretty nice motleys )

Eye of one of them:

Eye of the other one:

I am sure they are both opal stripe...but is one also Hypo (making mom het hypo)??? All opinions welcome and help is greatly appreciated. I don't post here much, but I do read often and I am sure there are lots of folks out there with good opinions. Thanks!

They do look like opals to me, but I'm no expert. Congrats! It is so fun when surprises happen, isn't it. I hatched my first surprise opal last week.

Thanks JY. I have a Hypo Caramel Stripe (unless I come up with something better in the next few years) lined up for these girls in the future. We'll see how it goes.
