Interesting snakes and interesting dimorphism.......
I take it there are 2 males in that series of pics?

It looks like the stripe just burly makes it to the vent on three of them but I don't see the stripe passing over the vent, obviously, in any of them. I love the variation in this morph. They are more variable than our Newports which typically have a stripe but no banding. Captive bred Newports can be just as variable but not in the wild. Thanks for sharing. This morph brings a lot of excitement to herping in Northern CA.

well, every male has a stripe over the vent,
anyway, I have 5 good eggs cooking from a pair of newports and the father is aberrant and the mother is totally normal but they where collected like 15 feet apart so I am hoping that like my central vally's the female turns out top be het.

If one is a Newport and the other is a normal banded, you will get some Newport's in the clutch because they are co-dom. I have some experience breeding LA Co. Newports, typical and Scrambled banded.

Hay Shannon,
Is this the mom.

For those who are wondering where you find snakes like that.
Here is where I found the parents.

I have only found 4 kings there all of them where Black Bellies. A friend took one and I gave Shannon a trio.

Thanks!!
Bobby
