A HUGE Bullsnake

chondroquest Jul 24, 2011 09:35 PM

This is a picture of a LARGE Texas Bullsnake named Bazooka Joe. It is owned by my friend Bryan, who asked me to help him measure it at a locan PA reptile show.

I forget it's actual measurements, but it is a big one!

Enjoy,

Jay

WOW, what a BULL! That's a serious size contender with really big indigos. A Hwy 277 bull or related?

here's another, an 06 crumbley red. pic was taken last year & she's about 6'' longer now. she has a feeding response that's absolutely dangerous hence the name 'charger'. she doesn't mess around!

Awesome Bull Dan!

Like the big Bull above, you're almost better served having an assistant to help you hold that gal as large as she is. I can tell she is "two handfuls" for you. "New World Pythons!"

yeah, i could use some help w/ her from time to time but my helpers usually end up out in the driveway once they see her reaction to the cage being opened up. lol! her 1rst clutch hatched last week & they came out of the eggs looking like little heavy weights. they haven't shed yet so i don't know what they really look like but i see alot of pink buff on their bellys.

Sounds like you have some forthcoming photos of the hatchlings (and I hope that you do post a few). How's the color development in your female coming along?

As for handling, my three year old (Ahnuld) is a challenge most of the time due to his size and his inclination to be on the move constantly. Doubt he would take to well (cooperate) to an assistant handler at this stage of his life. Ahnuld puts up with me but he over-reacts to everyone else. He is still within the average size range (albeit at the large end) for a sayi. His current weight is about 3.2 kg and he is about 76" long.

Here's a photo from this past February when I got him up for the year.

and a more recent (May) photo...

well, she started out pretty red as a youngster but turned that terra cotta orange color. she basically looks exactly like your arnhould.....

Seen that one before, but thanks for posting. Any chance you could get the measurements again?

I have a northern pine that hit six feet by his second birthday but at year three has only gained a couple more inches ...like wtf? Thought I was gonna have a real whopper, like something in the 7 foot class.

monklet, if your 3 year old pine is 6' now, i'd be surprised if he doesn't approach the 7' mark some years down the road. as for the size of my female crumbley, she's now slightly longer than her cage which is 8'.

monklet Jul 26, 2011 06:37 PM

8 foot! Wow, that is one heck of a snake! More pics would be very welcome. ...as for my "slow starter" ...thanks for the encouragement.
