Desert Females

wood0639 Jul 25, 2011 10:40 PM

I just wanted to ask or clarify, can Desert females produce viable offspring or is all of the rumors just hype? Thanks!

Too much time has went by. This conversation has been discussed A LOT !

It would be very cool to see a Desert Female produce viable eggs, but the proof is out there........not gonna happen!

There are several posts of deserts breeding deserts on P.E. facebook page that the females should have laid eggs this year, I posted on those pages asking if they laid........with no reply...go figure !

I do not believe Robyn or Chad is too busy to answer, I just don't think that they want to......Just my opinion

So I guess I'm calling you two out here........LOL

come on guys whats the deal?

Thanks anyway, just in case you don't answer ~

P.S. Also remember if Desert Females do not produce viable eggs, this does not mean that Desert Balls are a Bad purchase.

Because Desert Balls are a Great Purchase Regardless !

Just look at the combos out there....I believe that eventually breeders will no longer be using pastels and replace them with Deserts.............why not........Deserts are cleaner more vibrant looking ball pythons...........much more so than any pastel.

Hey Karl, we are breeding females right now. I will go in the shop and tell the girls that Karl insists they get gravid this moment, or into the trash heap they go. I haven't tried that before, but I am sure it will work.

As for the FB post reply, I don't know where your post exists. I try to keep current, but sometimes a comment on one of thousands of online photos gets by me. Try contacting me the old fashioned way if you have a question, by email, I can answer those much quicker : )

I too am excited to see the eggs hatch from the Desert female clutch that was pic posted in this very forum. That is, assuming the breeder will come back and post an update after he felt challenged and insulted about his ugly Desert female he was initially so happy about : )

I have just added a bunch of info and thought to the long Desert thread at the BL, I don't feel up to retyping it here, sorry.

Really, if anyone has questions or concerns about the Deserts, feel free to contact me directly, I am more than happy to talk about them.

I forget lots of things...

What I ate for breakfast this morning, and actually, I forgot to close a cage completely, so there is a Tiger (Desert x Enchi) female loose somewhere here in the shop.

I shift you not. I sure hope I remember to find her!

So I am guessing this will hopefully be answered by Chad or Robyn from Pro Exotics or Pete Kahl. I hope someone can eventually give a definitive answer on this on going topic. Thanks for the answer KBuckler!

just do a simple internet search and read, this topic has been beaten more than a dozen dead horses. there are at least 2-3 people who have already gotten viable clutches from desert girls and at least 1 person with some incubating right now. the RUMORS are far from truth at this stage

that is all

Thanks BAM_Reptiles, I appreciate the info. One question though, could you give me any links cause all I could find is a bunch of rumors and bickering back and forth? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I am not trying to start any heated debates, just want answers, as I have not read any forums in quite some time.

BAM_Reptiles Jul 26, 2011 12:33 PM

there was a thread on here, but i think it got deleted? and i cant link the other site because kingsnake has it banned. but if you just google search 'any desert news' you should get it

Yeah I agree, this topic is brought up way too often.

KBuckler, I promise Chad and Robyn aren't avoiding your comments on FB, we have been over there and seen all the Desert/Desert combo girls their breeding, and there is really nothing to update, their females are big and starting to produce follicles. Just going later in the year as they breed year round. I'm sure once they have an ovulation or a female due to lay they will update, but for now there's not much to say.....

I know Albey has a female due to lay within 1 1/2 - 2 months

Looking forward to seeing everyones results!

I remember rumors that bananas only produce females and no males just because the first few clutches only produced female bananas. Also that butters and lessers were different morphs and don't produce the same thing. Both of these rumors and others were later proved wrong!
