Not Dingy Anymore!

pyromaniac Jul 26, 2011 05:12 PM

Mazar is the one whose head is near the top left of the photo.

Mazar shed yesterday and emerged his old handsome self. He got dingy after mating this spring. None of my other males mated and none of them got dingy, and this was the first year Mazar both mated and got dingy afterwards, so I am blaming sex for his former dingyness. A small price to pay for the seven fine babies he sired!

Sweet Bob, I remember how bummed you were when he went all dingy on you...Didnt know he would be so spent, glad he's back. Small price to pay for those babies. Dave

Thanks, Dave!
Yeah, I was afraid he would be dingy forever!

He is with the mama snake of this year's clutch, with the big other snake in the corner his other mate. He mated with that one, too, but nothing came of it. Hoping next year she takes, too.

Another picture of their cage, a 30 gallon breeder tank. There is another much bigger moss hide with a piece of plexiglass over it under the water bowl pan. Just posting this so you can see they have more room than the first photos indicate. I am planning on moving them into a 40 gallon breeder tank next spring when they come out of brumation.

That looks great, will you be keeping the baby pyros together?

pyromaniac Jul 26, 2011 07:37 PM

That tank breeder set up is for my adult trio. Also have an adult pair in same type set up.

Here is what my babies are in; each baby has it's own tub. I use clamps and bungee cords to secure the lids, and they each have a 4 watt UTH on one end.

We wouldn't have 6 and a half billion people if you had to be beautiful to get laid.

True; if it ain't messy it ain't satisfying.
You ever notice how after a guy becomes a father for the first time he gets sort of gray looking, or pallid? lack of sleep I suppose...
