Some fun stuff: try to guess what am I?

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 06:24 PM

FOLKS LETS PLAY A LITTLE GAME...

THIS LITTER HAS ME SCRATCHING MY HEAD SCRATCHING

RULES: only 1 guess per Forum member..

I produced a litter by pairing 2 parents I will name later just to see what may happen. I had big hopes that they would be just amazing boas. When they were born you could definitely see they were different, but I was kind of upset and felt they left a little to be desired heres what they looked:

Scroll down and see what they are turning to look like little by little, there's 6 that look like this now:

LOOK!!!!!!!!!!

Please guess what you think the parents are, you can probably do this pairing yourself if you have the "RIGHT" ingredients, I will tell you waht they are! But after people try to guess. LOL!!!!!!!

I will figure out a prize for you....

Mike

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 06:34 PM

Its a great guess though...

JasonRobeck Jul 26, 2011 07:33 PM

How about Marron x EBV?

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 07:37 PM

LOL!!!!!

Another nice guess but still not correct

JasonRobeck Jul 26, 2011 07:42 PM

Marron x Flamingo?

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 09:10 PM

=)

LarM Jul 26, 2011 07:46 PM

From the first image I was going to say at least one of the parents was a Marron but . . . . . . . I'm leaning a different direction.

From the file I have on you Manny , I only have a small fraction, a tiny sample of the type of amazing Boas you have at your place Manny.
I'm certain I do not have an image of every Boa you own or even close to it.
I only have images of what you have posted on the Forums.

My guess is at least one of these parents come from your Flamingo Line !

How's that for a guess Manny ?!!

But no Flamingo here...I will bring a flamingo into these though...

LarM Jul 26, 2011 09:02 PM

This is not a guess just detective work.

There is no Jungle in the pile of babies.

So considering the color I will say SQT and VPI PP.

You don't have to tell me if I'm right or wrong because
this was
a 2nd guess so to speak.

Larry for you I will allow a 2nd guess as you are the unwritten forum moderator. It is 1/2 of your guess so you are 50% right. There's 2 people that have guessed 1 half right. I think it's the color that comes from that line PLUS the color from the other not yet guess animal that when they collided, pushed out a red I have yet to see other than on super marrons and bloody salmons.....

nace Jul 26, 2011 08:02 PM

Jungle x Squaretail

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 08:11 PM

1 out of 2

Nace Jul 26, 2011 08:16 PM

Lol my luck I know what the other boa is. But I only get one guess thanks.

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 09:25 PM

If you wanna PM me feel free, I'd like to know if you know know......

snakemanmoss Jul 26, 2011 08:52 PM

the lateral speckaling/stripe reminds me of some harlequin cross's I have seen- My total amature guess is Jungle X harlequin- I don't even know if this is possible or even makes sense-worth a shot ,

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 09:27 PM

This you say is true but that litter I made a forum post for in the past -- this is a totally different project...

chaz-schilens Jul 26, 2011 10:04 PM

RC Pastel x Sqauretail.....

I Like Boas... Chaz

norajohn Jul 26, 2011 10:15 PM

The only thing that orange I have seen is a young sq.tail and the tails on your babies look like a marron, so sq.tail x marron?

John Manser

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 10:20 PM

The squaretail is right. I own absolutely zero marron animals....

norajohn Jul 26, 2011 10:29 PM

Rats! I hate to be half right. Thanks for taking the marron out of the hunt.

John

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 10:50 PM

Mandrine x Squaretail?

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 10:53 PM

This is the closest thus far

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 10:56 PM

Do I win anything for being this close? lol

SERPENTIA Jul 26, 2011 10:29 PM

Looks like a squaretail in the jungle! Daniel

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 10:54 PM

But it's 1/2 of the 2 you mentioned. That's a sick project!

boldboas Jul 26, 2011 10:31 PM

How about Squaretail X Scarlet...???

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 11:01 PM

It could only be 2 more things....But Im out of guesses lol

VolcomHerp Jul 26, 2011 11:02 PM

Here is my shot in the DARK..... Parents were a Squaretail Female to a Double Dose Summit or Sugar Pastel. Whatever the #$^@ they are the @#$%*&^ RULE SWEEEEET KILLER STUFF MAN 8)

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:10 PM

answer is below...

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 11:14 PM

Where did you post the answer bro?

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:17 PM

right below this!!!!

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:16 PM

Ok so technically I could say those that guess squaretail with any sort of pastel could be correct in the sense that this pairing is from a "pastel line" however the specific line is the RC line, like Chaz said (But he already knew cause I told him I did the pairing). I went with the RC cause I picked up a top shelf holdback, but a sweet Summit or Pastel Dream, Mandarin Belly or all number of lines out there could/should make something like this. I HAD NO CLUE THEY WOULD TURN THIS WAY! I WAS ABOUT TO JUST PUT THEM IN A REALLY HIGH BIN AND IGNORE THEM FOR 2 MONTHS. But I put for right at a knee level rack, then 2 turned red, and I went through the rest and 4 more looked this way, and they are slowly showing their colors.... heres mom a Squaretail:

Here's Dad:

Had a ton of fun, standing by the computer answering every guess! I hope you guys enjoyed it and give me your reactions.....

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 11:20 PM

VERY NICE Manny!!!! So do I get one for being the closest? lol LMK if you need my address

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:32 PM

hows a crested gecko sound...LOL!!!!!!!!!!

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:34 PM

like 5 peope went with sq tail and some kinda pastel so its a tough situation. chaz got it right, but he knew from weeks ago, so he doesnt count

bigredtails Jul 26, 2011 11:50 PM

Iam just teasing manny ! Trust me brother I have enough stuff!!!

norajohn Jul 26, 2011 11:22 PM

Fun Manny. What you got for us tomorrow night?

John Manser

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:27 PM

i dont know if i can top this! im an open book, everyone knows what i did/done this year, but this here litter was such a disappointment at birth that i didnt even make a mention of it, but man in the last 3 weeks things things are just turning red, and they get more extreme at times kind of like a "fired up" state or "dark phase" like you'll find in salmons and things.

Thanks John, im glad you enjoyed it. I'll tell ya, i got ideas for projects thanks to this excercise!

Nace Jul 26, 2011 11:34 PM

Well I was the first with the squaretail and I new some pastel was in there. Great pairing. Good luck.

Nace

perfectpredators Jul 26, 2011 11:39 PM

I remember the male you bought from me back in 07' he was born very red.

Nice pairing, i think i may try a similar one as i have 2.3 from that 07 litter of pastels i had.

Manny you should be congratulated not only on a fantastic year but you have show just how selective breeding can produce amazing looking animals!

perfectpredators Jul 27, 2011 05:30 PM

Thank you Lucas, you know about selective breeding so coming from you this is a HUGE compliment!!!

DeHart Jul 29, 2011 10:01 AM

I would have thought that kind of color would be possible from Mandarin crossed with jungle, or squaretail (figuring it wouldn't be that good until homozygous ST, though). I'd love to see a Mandarin blood!
