KS changes

mikebell Jul 27, 2011 08:51 AM

What does everyone think of the changes? I guess I like things the way I'm used to seeing them. The dark background is hard to read, the replies don't seem to stack up the way they used to. I guess I'll get used to it.

Dark background is harder to see, and the posts are harder to follow. I hope it doesnt stay this way.

Bolitochrome Jul 27, 2011 09:59 AM

This is going to drive me absolutely F*&#ING nuts. It is difficult to read anything, the threads don't line up, and the colors clash. Give me old Kingsnake BACK!!

I can't. Read any of the blue type without zooming in on my phone. I don't like dark background at all.

mikebell Jul 27, 2011 10:03 AM

I thought it might be just me. You know, old people can't see and don't like changes. I thought the younger crowd might like it, I guess not. Hopefully they will change something. Another forum is dark, I don't like that either.

dallan Jul 27, 2011 10:05 AM

yeah i don't like it either. you can't tell where one post subject ends and the next begins. Please change it back

Glad it is back to the norm

Still funky from yesterday. I'm a web designer so maybe I'm just a little pickier but it seems like they could use some help with the UI of Kingsnake.

I like the Vbulletin format found on other reptile forums better than the setup here.

I guess I'm a minority because the old KS never lined up on my Mac and I hated it. Now it is way better but must be a Mac vs PC thing

AllBalledUp Jul 27, 2011 08:22 PM

I think you may be right about it being more Mac-friendly. Fills my screen neatly. Also, not sure I understand what people are saying about too much black; all I see is white backdrops. Maybe again a Mac v. PC issue?

mikebell Jul 28, 2011 08:42 AM

I think they went through several changes yesterday. Early there was a dark background with blue and green writing. It seemed to change a few times.

One suggestion. I am not seeing this and most of the early issues with the backgrounds colors and fonts are cleared up. What I would suggest doing is clearing your cache and reloading your web browser. That should fix the bulk of the issues. I did have a few problems early on, but now it is groovy and clear here.

If you see any problems feel free to call or email me at phfaust@pethobbyist.com and i will start collecting any info.

Sorry if it was misleading, everything seems fine now.

What dark background?

You guys need to hold off on comments, critiques and bug reports til we are done. We have somewhere around 12 million files to review and adjust and there are only 2 of us doing it. If not you will find yourself complaining about things that aren't really problems, issues or features and are just files that haven't been updated yet.

mikebell Jul 28, 2011 08:54 AM

I didn't know that it was a work in progress. If you had started the day with, "We'll be adjusting and working on the forums for a while, be patient and let us finish before deciding if you approve" I'm sure everyone would have watched for the results.

I for one, don't think you would try to make it harder on purpose. It does seem that some websites while trying to be cool put in too much background. I hate trying to read text over a multi colored background.

You asked "what dark background" for a while yesterday, at least on my mac the background was a dark gray with either blue or green text.

Be glad that people care, you have loyal users.

Thanks Mike

As long as we're filing complaints...

Not to be a debbie downer, but, how about changing the image for the ball python classifieds, at least to a snake that has had it's first shed. So many prettier combos imo.
