THE YEAR OF THE LEOPARD MORPHS

Lizards of Oz Jul 27, 2011 11:05 AM

It looks like this is turning into the year of the Leopard. I'm feeling left out at the moment because my Balls are running behind this year, but the combos being made so far this year are amazing. If you all haven't seen them look around on-line. These are the new combos I've seen made so far this year and they all look great.

Leopard Mojave
Leopard Fire
Leopard Firefly
Leopard Enchi
Leopard Pinstripe
Leopard Lemon Blast

I'm sure there will be more to come. Anybody who's been sleeping on this project needs to give it another look. Everybody needs a Leopard in their collection.

Maybe I'm not the only one who isn't up to speed on the leopards. Would you explain them a little more. I believe they are het pieds, correct. Did they just pop up? I saw an ad for a leopard pied, it looked like a regular pied to me.
Thanks in advance

I believe they first popped up at Pete Kahl's place from some of his Pieds. The Pied Leopard is admittedly hard to distinquish from a regular Pied. In fact I got into this project by chance not realizing the Pied I bought from Pete several years ago was actually a Leopard Pied. It is believed that all Leopards are 100% Het Pied, but I don't believe it's been proven yet. The real value in the project is in making the cool combos that the Leopard trait creates. I haven't seen one I didn't like yet. If you happen to create a Pied or Leopard Pied along the way that is just an added bonus.

I was wondering about the ability to recognize the leopard in a pied. I have a pastel pied that the breeder said might be a leopard.
