Leopard geckos can mate at any time, usually they stick to breeding season, but as yours were of proper weight and had never seen a member of the opposite sex before...well you know those hormones can run a little wild.

Eggs will probably hatch in around 5-6 weeks.

yep, that would be about right. Sometimes it does not take a whole month for them to lay after mating. If she was coming in to her laying stage she was more than likely secreteing some pheremones and got the male jumpin. Congrats on the eggs, hope they do well. Probally looking at 40 to 45 days at 85 degrees.

Sounds to me like maybe she had some sperm stored already from a previous mating?? You said you got her on Sept 4 at a show? Was she a proven breeder? If so, I think maybe she had just laid a clutch right before the show and the eggs might not even be from your male. Did you say that you have never even put them together?? If that is the case then he is definitely not the father. On the bright side, if the eggs are from some unknown male and your female, the babies could be het for something you might not expect!! Who knows. I dont know whether this answers your question or not. But if you picked her up Sept 4 and shes laying eggs, its always a possibility that shes just finishing up her laying season with some other male.

She said the female had NEVER been with a male. That would mean only one of two things.

Either she means NEVER with ANY male and the eggs actually are infertile.

OR

She means it was NEVER with any OTHER male than the one she bought and then the eggs could be fertile and her male IS the father.

if they are together i thats totaly normal. i think she has them together cause she said "she had never been with a male and he had never been with a female is this normal??"
if u read that it sounds like they are together but i know one herp that sometimes lay eggs without ever being with a male. it is a rattle snake. i kno at least 1 species does it if not all. its the westeren dimond back rattle snake if i remeber right and every once in a while a female who was captive breed and was never with a male her whole life layed a clutch of eggs.
