I love hognoses

NewHerpAddict Sep 30, 2003 07:49 PM

I think i have decided to get a hognose in november at the N.A.R.B.C. I will make sure it eats unscented food right in front of me(had a friend who bought a dumerils that was a guarenteed feeder and despite force-feeding efforts it passed away). Quick question: I probably won't do it but can 2 be housed together?

Hogs are great snakes, you definitely won't be dissapointed with your purchase. I would not house any species of snakes in groups unless they are breeding, but that is just by opinion.

And about the feeding, don't be too discouraged if the hogs don't feed right in front of you at a show. I have some hogs here that won't eat in front of me, but never skip a meal and the have not been sitting in a deli cup at a show all day. I would bet most vendors would not even attempt to feed one of the babies at a customer's request. First of all, they probably don't have any pinks availabe, and secondly if the hog ate, but the customer didn't buy it a regurge would be likely.

I would just try to find a cb western from a reputable breeder.

Good luck at the show.

Welcome to the world of Hoggies! They're wonderful snakes, you won't be sorry!

It is not recommended to house them together, as one is likely to eat the other eventually.

Good luck, Can't wait to see some pictures of your little one!
