Masque gene?

Shadylady Jul 28, 2011 03:32 PM

My extra fun clutch all ate thawed pinks first try! Even the little worm sized baby. The little worm was strange looking right from the start. Besides his head looking too big for him due to his small size, the head color looked wierd. Then when setting up the others I noticed some of them had that same strange head pattern. Researched it a bit and it appears to be the masque gene. There are five males with this broken nose band extra light scream pattern on their heads.

Anyone else have these? I understand it is a sex linked gene that only males will display. This really has been a fun clutch. Can hardly wait for the second clutch to hatch.

Very interesting Amy! I know that some genes will definately effect the head pattern. Bloodred or Diffused, and especially Sunkissed among others I'm sure. The head pattern is one of my favorite parts of the sunkissed.
