That lavender splendida pic

DMong Jul 28, 2011 07:22 PM

Here is that pic I saved of that W/C lavender splendida Ross and the others were talking about. I THINK it was captured somewhere in Texas if I remember correctly crossing a highway at night. Don Shores knows all about it as he looked at it personally, so if he chimes in he can add alot more to it.

enjoy,.........

~Doug

The guys name is cam,he lives in south Texas and was on his way out west to Sanderson.I saw it at Roy's place the next morning and did everything in my power to get it.I offered him 5 bills for it but he just kept saying no way man its not everyday you find a albino.LOL...this is true, even if its a lavender albino. What I liked about it most is that it was from a pure splendida zone (close to freer) and not from a intergrade zone like the amels in the hobby.

So what happened to it, is it "no longer with us" or is someone actually breeding it?

Cam is going to breed it because he's been buying up splendida morphs from Don.......

And before that a certain colubrid fella was selling sidewinders for $25 a bag. Not able to sell them all he released them in west texas.

I guess there were no where to wind, so they left.

All this is heresay, except I did see the person selling sidewinders there and he was selling them. As for releasing them, thats pure heresay.

But so the Story goes.

Also not far from my house, there is a population of sidewinders IN THE PARK, and its rocky hardpack, not sand or flat areas around. Also a place where said person was thought to release some. Hmmmmmmmmmmm better check and see if they are sonoran sidewinders or not. The sidewinders are IN that rocky area, I found them. But the rest is again humors and heresay.

Wow, that thing is incredible. I'm still looking at it on my Samsung Jack. lol Can't wait to get home and see it on the monitor. Thanks for posting, Doug.

I was there when he collected it.I tried to talk him out of it but he was hell bent on breeding it.
Here is a pic I took of it.

"shoot, nevermind I can't find the pic right now!"

LOL!!,..Boy, I hear ya man. That's why I just went through thousands of pics recently that were all over the place in my computer and tried to organize them a bit better. What a pain in the arse, but it is way easier to find stuff now..

My good friend just moved from Texas to the Left coast. He lived in Alpine and currently owns a WC Lav Albino that he found years ago. I've tried talking hm out of it for years now but he won't budge. I've even tried to borrow it for a season and breed it but he wouldn't let it go... Its a female. He has tried one or two males but no luck. I know with a proper brumation and introductions at the right time, I could get the darn thing to breed.

He said that another albino was caught in the extact same locality 10 years ago.

I've offered him cash, animals, breeder loan, etc.

Sounds like you won't be able to get it from him, unless it's from his cold dead hands. LOL!

That's a pretty interesting story Graham, thanks for chiming in bud!

Yeah, that's too bad for the hobby that you don't have the darn thing instead..

I know guys- it IS sad. He's not really a colubrid guy and doesn't frequent any of the online forums. It'd be SO easy to get the darn line established but he won't let it go- not even for a season. I'll continue working on him. I wish I would have took pics of the animal before he moved out of state.

DMong Jul 30, 2011 03:31 PM

Yeah, by all means keep the pressure on him about it Graham!. Who knows, he just could give in to your high-pressure "mafioso" technique one fateful day..LOL!!..
