What type of Zonata is in the header?

a153fish Jul 29, 2011 05:57 PM

I see they changed the picture and the one they have now has a very curious head pattern! Does anyone know what they are?

I don't know but that black mask over the eye looks really cool. I think it would be nice to change the two photos for this forum as well. They are nice but they have been up there forever and it would be nice to see other species or subspecies this time. Hey, and while I'm complaining hahaha I think Hubbs book on Common kingsnakes should be offered up there in that little spot where the other kingsnake books are. Oh the dreams I have. lol

Oh ok. Yeah, I heard the Eastern kings ruled back then, but how? A lot of East coast members, few Fl king morphs? I rarely visited this site back then.

I have no idea but there were alot of eastern keepers then.... Now it seems there are alot of floridana keepers..... But you have to remember the fact that us 30 or so that post here only make up a tiny fraction of the king keepers out there.........

How true that is.

DMong Jul 29, 2011 10:10 PM

It was actually the 2007 photo contest. The reason I know this is because I won a couple as well..LOL! One photo the general forum, and one on a milksnake sub-forum that KS must have done away with I guess. For some reason the photos here on the king forum don't have the 2007 captioned underneath along with the contest photos, but most(if not all) of the others do have the contest date included under the photos......weird.

Here is the link to the 2007 contest photo of a corn I captured in Palm Bay, Florida as a little yearling and raised up that Jorge now has. She is HUGE now too, and we refer to her as "Big Bertha"..LOL!. She laid a whopping 35 good eggs for me her first breeding!!..

That is a nice looking corn snake, Doug. 2007 was a long time ago. They should have photo contests way more often than that. Once a month would be cool. Do you remember that forum that was around a couple of years ago or maybe 3 called Freedom reptiles forum, or something like that? They had a photo contest and let everyone vote at the end. I won that contest and the prize was a hatchling mottley (spelling?) Corn snake. They were going to send it to me but I told them to send it to this other member there that was all into Corn snakes. We should do the same thing here and you can send (for free) one of your new outer banks kings to the first place winner!!! lol

Jlassiter Jul 29, 2011 10:38 PM

I am the moderator of a Texas based Reptile Forum and we have monthly photo contests with different themes.......

That's cool man, we should do that here too.

DMong Jul 29, 2011 10:55 PM

And you could give away your nice locality-specific hypo Cal. king in one of the contests..

Glad you liked the corn bro..LOL!

Cool Corn Doug!...I swore it was before 2007, because I went to the Daytona show in 2005 for the first time and boasted to Rainer, Jason Nelson, Randy Whittington and Tom Stevens at the bar in the hotel that I had beat out the Black N White king of kings......LOL

Maybe I am just getting old.....hehe

LOL!!,..yeah, that is weird. I guess it is possible they never changed the photos on this forum, but that would seem pretty odd when all the others(I think) had 2007 photos, but who knows, maybe we are both getting old, I know I am anyway..LOL!

Doug....I was out of state working with no animals in 2007......I didn't even post on these forums in that year......except for maybe a handful of times.......
The Kingsnake forum picture contest was prior to 2007.......I still think it was 2005......

Ah, okay!, that would explain it then. I guess they only had the contest for certain forums in 2007, and staggered them here and there because there are so many individual forums to deal with.

i think so.....I didn't remember the 2007 contest because, like I said....i wasn't around much.......

i think Jeff created the subforums in 2007.......they weren't around in 2005.......
