New gecko owner

laurinj Sep 30, 2003 08:30 PM

I have a baby house gecko. Someone was going to let it loose because they didn't want it(they must have seen the "sucker" tattoo on my forhead)
I have 2 green anoles and for now the gecko is in a tank by himself. I get conflicting opinions as to weather or not it is okay to put them all together. I have a 20 gallon tank. From what I have read, the care seems to be the same but I'm concerned that they will fight.
What are the opinions here? He is also so young that hunting down crickets is new to him, even the tiny ones. Is they any way to "teach" him?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Lauri,

I just posted this same question except 2 geckos and 1 anole. Read the post below about mixing species. I also posted it on the anole forum. Frankly, I am still figuring out what to do! Yours sounds like a better setup simply b/c you have a 20 gal - I have a 10.

Thanks Lele. I have been searching online for days! For the most part, the advice seems to be that it is okay as long as they are the same size and require the same care. I put the female in with the gecko yesterday and they ignored each other, of course she wanted to go home. The problem I have now is the baby doesn't seem to be eating. I put some mashed banana with calcium on his nose yesterday and he licked it off.
what did you wind up doing?
