If your feeding him pinheads then I'm guessing he is tiny, so 5 crickets a day is defintly not enough, even if he isn't tiny really, my little guys can eat up to 50 to 60 crickets a day, plus their greens, which should be a mixture of stuff, colard greens, turnip greens, endive, I always switch their food around so they dont' get bored with it, there is a whole list of foods, i think you can go to beautifuldragons.com and see, but that really don't seem like enough food,,do you dust his food? Sorry you got a phyco LOL,,we have one of them too, he bearded all up and acts crazy everytime yougo to hold him, and we always handle them several times a day, but he is just crazy he looks really nice running in his tank, and does calm down when you can finally get him, if that one is a tiny baby I would watch about stressing him though.. Good lck with your new family member

Agree with flammingcat, but also...

You should avoid feeding your beardie any time up to 2 hours before turning off your basking light, they need the heat in order to digest, and the crickets will instead sit in their gut and can cause impactions and all sorts of other problems that can be potentially fatal.

Just a few thoughts:
- Perhaps he's so aggressive about the crickets because he's starved?
- Don't throw crickets to him right before the lights go out. He won't be able to digest them while he sleeps and the heat is off. I don't feed my beardie less than two hours before lights-out, so she'll have time to digest the food properly.
- Definitly start feeding the poor guy more crickets! Let him eat as much as he wants within 10-15 minutes, twice a day. One of those feedings, the crickets should be dusted with calcium powder.

I agree with the others...However, I think that if your baby is going crazy over a few crickets, it is probably because he is famished. You know, kind of like when we haven't eaten all day and someone puts something delicious in front us. If we didn't have manners, we would probably scarf it down and make a mess everywhere. Forget the utensils!!! Feed him a couple times a day, probably a dozen at each time and he will probably stop feeding in a frenzy.

Good luck....my baby is 5 months old now and hilarious to watch eat...Enjoy!!
