2nd clutch out...a 3rd on the way maybe?

varanid Jul 30, 2011 10:10 PM

My clutch of DH white sided hypos is out and doing well--all 7 of them. They haven't shed or eaten yet though (hatched starting this last Sunday and through Tuesday). It's amazing to compare them to the ones that hatched in early June; 2 months makes a gigantic difference.

But now I'm thinking my hypo is possibly gravid again? I haven't mated her again but she's swole up fairly well and in shed...I didn't *want* a 3rd clutch, I don't enough pink or fuzzies stockpiled and I don't have enough cages. She's been putting away food like she's been starved though. I was kind of hoping that caloric intake would go for growth, so I could get more and/or larger offspring next year. Guess we'll see.

Congrats on the second successful hatch!

I didn't expect to get ANY clutches this year and already have a half dozen baby pyros and a half dozen bull snake eggs due to hatch any day now. Everybody is all about snakes eating each other if cohabitated; well, mine bred instead! LOL! At least I have plenty of mice. But space is sort of an issue. Must prepare more little tubs.

I actually pulled mine apart to stop breeding! I mean, I understand that reproduction is a very primal drive but DAMN.

If you need the space I'll take a pyro and a bull snake off your hands. They would be nice to add to my collection. LOL.

Well, the bull snakes are already spoken for and they have yet to hatch. The pyros are all eating now and don't take up much room, so I will keep those.
