Love to Eat Them Mousies....

pyromaniac Jul 31, 2011 02:30 PM

This cartoonist knew cats! I have a little cat named Cindy who hangs out by the mouse barn, and when I have a cull I give it to her. I always kill it first to be humane. Anyway, she likes to sometimes just bite the head off and nibble the feet off and leave the rest uneaten. My big Pacific gopher Gonzo seems to like Cindy's gnawed on mice. Wash it off and give it to the snake; she always eats them.

I guess I have a gruesome sense of humor. I was telling my partner about this and the recounting of it struck my funny bone and I laughed so hard my sides hurt! LOL!

How thin is the air up there. You spend way to much time a lone. I think you need to get out more. LOL

I've resisted this for years... when your favorite bag of snacks is gone and there's nothing left but crumbs...

I've always found this funny in the same gruesome way... somebody please tell me there is something darkly humorous about that... I'm hearing the song "Amnesia" by the Pousette Dart Band in my head... "believe me I'm sick but not insane"

mrkent Jul 31, 2011 05:02 PM

I think that is very funny! I guess we all have warped humor, being reptile owners.

All those tiny little hands and feets! LOL!

I have thought up a recipe for deep fried pinkies, like chicken nuggets, for when people come to your house and you want to be pranky.

I actually had to move thawing rodents to the bathroom because I can close the door. My cat will pull mice from the bucket and eat the heads and hide the bodies. Sometimes he eats them all. When i feed, I often give him a mouse or two for that days meal.

I wish more of my cats would eat the mice. I have a whole freezer full of frozen mice and something like 20 cats, but only a couple of the cats recognize mice as food. The others would rather have canned cat food or dry kibble. I suppose if times got really tough and I had to quit with the civilized cat chow...

Bob,

Sounds like Cindy would treat birds the exact same way! Sort of reminds me of my childhood cat. She did live up to about 19 years and was a former street cat as well. Very sweet and she would watch television with my family...I know it sounds lazy!!

Hahaha!

You can never have only one snake!

pyromaniac Aug 02, 2011 09:10 AM

I hate when they catch birds. They do generally just bit the heads off of birds, too. I only have a few cats that hunt. I find dead wild prey, like shrews, moles, deer mice, which they have killed but not eaten. I have rescued countless reptiles from them, usually in time to save the animal. The most egregious case of cat hunting was when I found a baby gopher snake in the pool area that someone had killed. I know it in the nature of cats to hunt, but I wish they could be taught to leave the reptiles and birds alone.
