That's really nice, John. Will he keep that look into adulthood?

Jlassiter Aug 04, 2011 01:21 PM

>>That's really nice, John. Will he keep that look into adulthood?

Yes it will.....Maybe a little gray speckling but that is it.....
I will surely be posting some pics of him over the next year or so......He will be a breeder in 2013, but he needs a worthy mate......

That's cool, John. Is this white phase from selective breeding? Are known from the wild like this?

Jlassiter Aug 04, 2011 06:00 PM

>>That's cool, John. Is this white phase from selective breeding? Are known from the wild like this?

I am not for sure if one from the wild has ever been found as white as the white lines we have in the hobby today, but these ARE the result of line breeding uncompromised thayeri........

With their variability I am sure there has been a white leonis or white MSP hatched in the wild........Maybe not as clean as the ones we have today.

We are stuck with what came into the hobby decades ago......And we will not have any others until we figure out how to legally collect and import into the US again.......Not any time soon...lol

Yeah, I heard you can legally ship Mexican snakes from Mexico to Europe, then have them shipped here to America if you know someone up there that would handle that. That is a big hassle and maybe why its not being done. Thanks for the info.

Plus....Mexico is not the safest place at all right now.......

Yep, and you can't trust the police down there as well. At least not the ones in TJ. lol

I agree...I live a couple hours from the border....I've been to the border towns numerous times and even Monterry and Cancun once......The police are just as crooked as the crooks....Just like in Tijuana......Been there too......LOL

And....the Mexican snakes I enjoy are from over this way....Right under our noses, south of the Rio Grande.......

Yeah, there are lots of cool places to look for snakes on the other side of the border if you want to risk it. I found tons of good looking trash piles to dig through on google earth in perfect looking Cal king habitat by TJ, but you'll never find me there flipping that trash. lol
