Hey Cindy!

DMong Aug 04, 2011 06:01 PM

I just noticed something fairly recently. Certainly not to take anything away from all the other great kingsnake books up there on the kingsnake header, because they are very nice books as well. But why on earth wouldn't kingsnake.com of ALL businesses NOT have the very latest, most detailed and complete publication on the getula complex known to man thus far up there for sale with the rest of the books????. This of course would be "Common Kingsnakes"(a Natural History of Lampropeltis getula) by ~ Brian Hubbs.

This seems like it would be like going to the Top Fuel Nationals and only seeing Street and Pro Stocks race..

I made mention of this a week or so ago but no one responded. Maybe it has to do with Hubbs being banned from here, that's what he told me. I hope its nothing personal because that is the most complete book on getula EVER. I might be wrong because this was a while back, but I seem to remember him telling me he was banned here because he mentioned his book after they told him not to. Maybe you have to pay a fee to have it advertised up there and they wouldn't allow him to advertise for free.

Yeah, right after I hit the send button, it dawned on me from a while back, and I have gotten several emails that verify this to be the case as well.

so......NEVER MIND CINDY!!!!..LOL!!!

We can enjoy a nice drag race until it gets deleted I guess..

It was a good gesture anyway, Doug. That book is incredible and deserves the spot light but Hubbs is being cheap. lol

Bluerosy Aug 04, 2011 08:45 PM

Cheap or not. One thing for sure we can all agree on is that book will go down in history of herpetoculture for several decades.

probably become more popular after brian is long gone. lol!

Better get one now 'cause Hubbs said he definitely wouldn't sign a single one after he's gone...

Oh Yeah, definitely. He's leaving a legacy to ensure he'll be remembered for a very long time. He will help encourage people to get out there in the field and learn what this hobby is all about and why its so easy to take for granid what we have available to us, as far as all the different kingsnakes in the hobby now.

DMong Aug 04, 2011 09:22 PM

LOL!,....I agree, regardless of whatever the reasons were, it cannot be rivalled by any other getula kingsnake publication,.....nothing out there even comes close!..

Not on field work. Nothing will come close in that area...

But on captive husbandry......maybe the best is still to come

GONE FISHING!!!

Steveoinlvnv Aug 05, 2011 12:55 PM

I looked this book up online. I think I might have to get it if I can find it at a little cheeper price. I've seen it listed from $44 and change to $288 on amazon used.

DMong Aug 05, 2011 06:24 PM

I am assuming the price of $288 is a typo error..LOL!

Most all places sell it at a flat $60 that I have ever seen, so anything substantially cheaper is a great bargain. It is worth every single penny of the cover price anyway for that matter. People that don't have it yet can't really imagine just how detailed and thorough it really is to be quite honest. It is simply chock-o-block full of great usable info. It makes other kingsnake books sem like "coloring books" actually..

Sounds l;ike you have read some of that book. lol

I agree. That book is just chock-O-block. I don't see how any herpetoculturist or especially any kingsnake enthusiats can call themselves one without that book....
...I mean, now that it is here in print.
