Congrats on the brooks you got there. Male brooksi will grow fast in a short amount of time. They also reach a larger size than females. You might want to try a few larger food items for his next meal . He looks a bit big for fuzzy mice. I would try a couple small mice every three to four days.
Really? I have never heard males getting bigger than females. I have only either heard no real difference, or females bigger. Where did you get that info from?
Dan
I think I got all the info from first hand breeding and raising up over 50 brooksi in my lifetime. Also if you ever see a large brooksi it always a male. Just a well known fact. Why the doubts?
looks more like a central fla. Floridanae the rare S. fla. variety should be lighter than that but its just a photo i could be mistaken. cant wait till i get a digi-cam i have some f-0 South fl. brooks to post. Chris
I would really love to see your F-0. I think we would all love to see how the originals come out. Since the hypos a few years back I have not seen many F-0 brooksi. Are you planning on collecting them. Do you have much experience at this?
Whats a F-O ? Do you mean F1 ? F1 means first generation out of the wild in other words offspring from wild parents. Possibly you mean you have wildcaught Brooksi ??? As far as the pic thats posted not all Brooksi are lemon yellow some can be dark. Brooksi are incredibly variable in that aspect.

keith yes f0 is wild in this case they(1.1)are" salt and pepper" offwhite maybe a tinge of yellow and speck black due to the limestone area where they were collected Rainer i didnt collect myself but a local old time collector did and must say that all or almost all south fl. brooks are in the park or private property non accessable. Believe me ive looked. and the 2 i have, is a male approx 2 years and female yearling so with any luck i can produce some pure f1 s in couple years. every herp shop in miami says they havnt seen wild brooks in years . Chris ps keith im still looking for a pair of Sticticeps to accompany my lone 02 female OBK i know you said all you had was a striped male maybe you know some of the outer banks pioneers. Getulas Rule Chris...
All right, if you think that. But never say never, nature tends to do strange things.
Dan
Rainer is correct in that males do get larger. Ive raised many Kings and on average males would be 3-4" longer than the females. Ive never ever seen a female Common Kingsnake thats 6' long but plenty of males that big and bigger.
