Kingsville x Stillwater Hatching!

pyromaniac Aug 06, 2011 09:32 AM

First two out of egg this morning. One hypo and one normal, I think. I thought they would all just look like the parents, but they seem to be a variety. I am very happy to get a normal, and the hypo is not bad either! Can hardly wait to see what the rest will look like.

This clutch is from my pair of 09 bulls that I didn't think would breed this year; think again! Teenagers! LOL!

RIGHT ON TIME!!

pyromaniac Aug 06, 2011 05:45 PM

They all seem to be hatching on the same day, unlike the pyros who hatched one at a time over a week's time.

I especially like that "hypo". Would love to see comparision shots as it morphs into adult.

I am not sure if hypo is the right word for it, or even if the normals are really normals. The third and forth babies look sort of normal, one with light brown saddles and the other dark brown saddles.

After they shed I will post better pictures.

Zoey and Alfonzo this morning. She is a little redder than Alfonzo. Yes, these babies are Zoey's and Alfonzo's. Four have hatched so far with one left to go. I expect that one to hatch any moment. The sixth and smallest egg didn't make it. The baby snake died after one pip. Sad, but I was able to use pieces of it to feed a couple of stubborn baby pyros and freeze the rest for later feedings, so not a total loss. The first two hatchlings are very mellow like the father, but the second two are full of hiss and spit and one even bit me! LOL! I have offered a large pinky to each one as it is removed from the incubator and they all have eaten.

this is going to be my biggest problem next year!!!

john dhont Aug 07, 2011 05:27 AM

Congrats with that nice looking baby!

pyromaniac Aug 07, 2011 03:01 PM

The hypo is the only one to come out like that. I have named it Rozy, for the rose blush of its unique coloring. All the others are dark. When the parents were babies they too were dark but lightened up as they grew.

A baby picture of one of the parents, or a sibling; they all came out looking very much alike. This is what three of the new babies look like. A forth one is very dark. The parents came from Rich Hardy.

Congrats,
looks like a hypo Kingsville. Also the normal has already alot of red in his head.

I think you are looking at the photo wrong. The normal has its head sort of under the hypo's body. The head you are seeing is the hypo's. I didn't know there was such a thing as a hypo Kingsville. I thought there were only hypo Stillwaters. Not that I am a big expert on this topic! LOL!

You are right, looked at the picture totaly wrong. Still the normal has some red in the sides. My bad.

pyromaniac Aug 08, 2011 09:42 AM

When the parents hatched they were like the "normals?" I have now, but as they shed and grew they became the pretty golden color they are today.

A baby picture of the father at a few months old. On the babies I have now most show a bit of red.

the red gene is kinda wierd that way. my adults are a little red but throw really red babies.

pyromaniac Aug 08, 2011 10:15 AM

The parents at about 9 month old. Getting more golden. I think the only baby that is going to be quite red is the "hypo". It is also unusual in that it is so much bigger than the others.
