Cal Kings and zonata.......

trivirgata Aug 06, 2011 02:20 PM

I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi. My name is Jerry Hartley. I’m a Rosy Boa guy and owner of [url ban]. Though I have been finding Cal Kings and Zonatas all my life growing up in Trinity County CA I was never much of a King keeper. My mom found my first zonata as a matter of fact. Over the course of the last year I have become passionate for locality Cal Kings as my son fell in love with them instead of Rosys, so now of course I’m in love too. I had no idea of how cool Cal Kings could be until getting in to locality specifics like I obsess about with my Rosys. I’m amazed at how variable their patterns and colors can be based on the geographical origin. There are some truly amazing animals naturally occurring in the wild. What drives me crazy is why? Growing up I only found black and white specimens in Nor Cal and later in So Cal looking for Rosys in the desert. All others I only saw via the old TFH books. Over the last year I have learned so much from Cal King geeks like Gary Keasler, Brian Hinds, Shannon Brown, Bobby McGregor and Paul Lynum to name a few. Shannon was the one that told me how cool this forum was and that I should check it out.
My wife has a passion for zonata for obvious reasons, so I now have another animal to look forward to learning about. As I have seen here, Mitch can provide locality captive born animals which makes me very happy. I met Mitch via Cal King interest and had the pleasure of observing some of his which were some of most beautiful zonatas on the planet. Again, another great guy sharing his knowledge and passion for me to learn from. I look forward to getting his zonata book. Going on 50 years of age I’m finding out what I have been missing out on. Don’t get me wrong, Rosys will always be my first love, but man I’m excited to be re-introduced to some of the coolest animals on the planet. I look forward to using this forum for advice and meeting new people. I have met some great people via my Rosy site, so I know I will have the same success here. Thanks for taking the time to read this post as I know it was long and I kinda geeked-out…………

Jer-bear.

SAS QUATCH!!!!

The rosy KING!!!!!!

LOL!

Man I am so glad to see you on this forum. This place needs some good people with a real passion like you. i hope you stick around for a long time.

Also, speaking for myself and a few others... We would love to hear some stories from your experince in the field as well as some of your thoughts on husbadry (keeping rosys) for so many years. While some subjects do in 6 different directions at times. other snakes and fleid work does come into discussions here. As long as no Monster trucks are discussed. K?..j/k

BTW, I love your personal introduction. I think you are a class act all the way and I hope that everyone HERE treats you that way. I think your ability to think outside the box and search and explore outside the box for new locales and outside the range maps is something we can all learn from....and certainly would love to see and hear about some kingsnakes you found in your search for rosys.

Cool to see another cal king person. My first love was rosy boas in the 1990's, then I switched to cal kings. I'm finally producing some morphs in cal kings that have never been produced before.

Glad to see ya here.

Good to see you throwing down here you big harry geek. Now what did you used to say about all my cal kings??LMAO..I can't repeat it here but it was something like "screw those craping all over the place smearing feces all over the place things" LOL...look at you go now tuff guy.

When you get a chance snap some pics on show off a few of your new kings.Like Paul said you are off and running man I think you are already in double digits on locales (big thanks to me,paul gary and a few others)and the fever will never go away.

You forgot to mention also that you are incubating your first ever colubrid eggs as we speak.Just wait till you see them little buggers hatching man you will be so hooked.Thousands of eggs later and I still sport wood watching my clutches hatch.
