Your snakes is an individual and trying to get warmer than the other for a reason...
..maybe it is because it feels secure in a tighter spot. or maybe it is because it is warmr there. The good thing is you are giving choices. But I agree with the other posters and take the heat pad underneath-just make sure it does not get to hot and melt the plastic.
provide a tight spot with something ealse like a peice of tile. But keep the choices on temperature ranges. the snakes will choose what temps they need. Sometimes it is cold. and sometimes hot...especially after they eat! They need warm temps 90f - tro digest. then when finished digetsing they move to cold to conserve energy.
You can attach a rheostat to the heat pad. Ft it gets to hot just adjust the temp. You can get a rheostat cheap at any Lowes or Home depot.
