White Tiger- thinking about this Desert

robyn@ProExotics Aug 10, 2011 05:43 PM

This is the White Tiger. It is not a brand new hatchling, it has been around for a bit. Frank Martin has hatched some as well.

It is NOT a super Desert. It is a Tiger (Desert x Enchi) bred to Mojave. Why would that make a White (Ivory) type snake? I don't know.

Enchi to Mojave makes Jigsaw, Desert to Mojave makes a beautiful Desert Mojave, so I really have no idea how this visual was created.

At first I was bummed. The white snakes don't do a lot for me. We didn't consider selling it, even as a male, because it was confusing, we wanted to see if someone else made one (like Frank), and just get a better understanding of what is at work there.

But in the last couple of days, I had a revelation. The fact that it is visually Ivory is not so important. It is what this animal can PRODUCE that is actually quite amazing.

This male bred to a Normal female, you could see these hatchlings:

Desert
Enchi
Mojave
Tiger (Desert x Enchi)
Jigsaw (Mojave x Enchi)
Desert Mojave
more White Tigers (Desert x Enchi x Mojave)

Breed this male to a Lesser, or even a Kingpin (Lesser x Pin) and the possibilities exponentially explode again.

I have a renewed appreciation for the genetics at play here. Pretty awesome!

Very, very interesting! It looks just like a super mojave. Hard to grasp how three totally unique traits could have the same effect as one super?? A genetic monster for sure.

Awesome snake...

One small correction; the jigsaw is a mojave x pin.

Interesting snake...and interesting post Robyn.

Perhaps I am wrong...but I thought that a jigsaw was actually a combination of Mojave and Pinstripe. Is that correct?

Regardless, that will be a powerful snake to play with down the road! Isn't it interesting how some of these combinations can surprise us. Fun stuff!

Robin, I agree 100% thats what I thought when I seen that it makes a white snake. What an incredible breeder! But I don't think I would breed it to a lesser you would end up with white snakes that may or may not be "white tigers" they may just be Lesser X Mojave BEL then you would not know if there is desert in there or not. If you breed it to a Super Pastel or a Killer Bee that would be sweeet!I hope to make a White Tiger soon.

Jigsaw is Pin Mojave, correct, trying to think too fast I suppose.

I would have thought we made a mistake, or had retained sperm, or something like that, if another breeder had not achieved the same result breeding his Tiger to Mojave. We hatched two of these, and Frank Martin got two or three of them : )

I'm excited to see this male breed a number of females this coming year!

Interesting that a Desert/Enchi/Mojave combination would produce a white snake! BTW, LOVE the name White Tiger!

For the other people that commented, this does not look like a super mojave to a 'trained eye' just notice the yellow hue in the animal

Robyn how old is this ball? I'm willing to bet the yellow hue comes out more and shows up as something very interesting.

Very Cool !

black lights have been showing some cool stuff when all these white balls have been put under them. might show some funky pattern or hidden colors.

We don't have one, but I suppose we can go down to the local head shop and buy one : )

if Desert to Mojave make a BEL, then a Desert to Desert would "most likely" yield a BEL as well.....idk. Thats my theory. I would like to go on record as that being my official guess.....and GOD I HOPE IM WRONG!!!! ....lol.

Desert to Mojave does NOT make a white snake. It makes a beautiful Desert combo. You can see pics of the Desert Mojaves on our facebook page.
