Speaking of jigsaws..

AllBalledUp Aug 10, 2011 10:22 PM

Could use some advice concerning this animal -- jigsaw or pastel jigsaw? From a sulfur mojave x lemonblast pairing. And if it is more than just jigsaw, how can you tell? Thanks for any help...Dave

Another pic (need to figure out how to attach multiple photos). Thanks again!

You can tell from the purple head that it's atleast a pastel jigsaw. normal jigsaws are usually a lot browner. not sure if you hit the quad, but definitely atleast a triple.

Thanks, Michele. Then her sib might actually be the quad. What do you think?

Pastel Jigsaw... color and head gives it away. Nice snake!

Here's a one I produced a few years ago.

That's a beauty, Oz! I will post another pic of what now seems to be the quad after she sheds again, which should be tomorrow or the next day. Don't suppose I would be the first to make a pastel-sulfur-jigsaw? Seems rather unlikely, but that sure would be a hoot. If this is not the first, do you know what it is called? Thanks...Dave

Hey Dave,

I believe the quad would be a first. It's a very cool snake either way, lots of combo potential!

Thanks, Oz. To be first with something would be beyond amazing, but how do I determine conclusively whether it has been done before? I looked on World of Ball Pythons (before they took down their site for repairs) and they don't even seem to recognize sulfur-based combos. Sometimes it seems as though sulfurs may be just a west coast name for vanillas, so maybe that's why they aren't specifically included on World of BPs? Do you know of another resource for looking up combo origination? Thanks again for responding!

I say Pastel Jigsaw, based on head and overall coloration. Nice snake!

AllBalledUp Aug 11, 2011 09:23 PM

Thanks, Ryan. That seems to be the consensus. Glad I asked -- she was this close to being sold to a wholesaler as a jigsaw, mostly b/c it took awhile for the yellow to come in. She definitely seems to be getting brighter. Her quad sibling has been even slower to color up. Anyway, thanks for responding. Appreciate the help...Dave
